The top filly won the day at the 2009 Preakness Stakes. Rachel Alexandra won after leading from the start to fend off a determined challenge from, Kentucky Derby winner, Mind That Bird. Mine That Bird ran an excellent race and came very close to completing the second leg of the Triple Crown after his win at Churchill Downs. The winner became the first filly for 85 years to win the carnations ahead of Musket Man who came home back in third place but the day belonged to the new superstar that is Rachel Alexandra.
